Armenia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Vahe Ghazaryan, has submitted his resignation, as confirmed by the ministry's spokesperson, Narek Sargsyan. This decision is part of a wave of high-profile resignations following sharp criticism from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the performance of law enforcement agencies.
According to Armenpress, prior to Kazaryan’s announcement, Karen Andreasyan, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, and Sasun Khachatryan, head of the Anti-Corruption Committee, had also stepped down from their posts.
Media reports indicate that Argishti Kyaramyan, Chairman of the Investigative Committee; Rustam Badasyan, head of the State Revenue Committee; and Gnel Sanosyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, have also submitted resignation letters.
These resignations come in the wake of Prime Minister Pashinyan’s stern remarks during a government meeting on November 14, where he expressed severe dissatisfaction with the work of Armenia’s law enforcement and judicial systems, declaring that his "patience has run out" and promising decisive action. On November 18, Pashinyan officially confirmed that he had requested several senior officials to leave their positions.
