The State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia has issued an official statement urging citizens entering the country to only bring in newly purchased iPhone 16 devices for personal use.
The SRC emphasized that travelers should refuse requests from strangers at foreign airports to transport mobile phones. The committee warned that such actions could be part of covert business activities, potentially involving citizens in unintended illegal operations.
According to the SRC, there has been an increase in cases where tourists, unable to decline requests from fellow countrymen at foreign airports, bring mobile phones into Armenia and hand them over to unknown individuals.
In response, Armenia’s customs service is tightening controls to prevent the illegal import of mobile phones for commercial purposes. The SRC calls on citizens to remain vigilant and adhere to customs regulations when entering the country.
