Armenia's Stock Market on the Rise: Corporate Bond Volume Increased by 33.4% in August 2024

Armenia's stock market is showing significant growth, with trading volumes and market capitalization seeing substantial increases in August 2024. These figures were reported by the Armenia Securities Exchange in its latest report, highlighting a notable strengthening of the country's financial sector.

According to the published data, the volume of government bond placements on the exchange exceeded 45.5 billion drams (around $115 million). The corporate bond market demonstrated considerable growth compared to the same period last year, with its volume increasing by 33.4%, reaching over 566 billion drams (approximately $1.4 billion). Trading volumes of corporate bonds also saw a 70% rise, totaling over 4.18 billion drams (about $10.7 million).

A particularly notable increase was observed in the repo transactions segment. Their total volume exceeded 8.2 billion drams (around $21 million), a 258% increase compared to the same period last year. A total of 61 repo agreements were concluded in August.

The stock market also displayed positive dynamics. The trading volume of shares amounted to around 154 million drams (approximately $400,000), while market capitalization exceeded 325 billion drams (over $831 million), marking a 3.81% increase compared to the previous year. A total of 96 share transactions were executed.
