Georgian handbag brand TERTMETI TBILISI has issued a statement on the ongoing events in the country and expressed its support for the pro-European protests.
The company condemns the crackdown on peaceful rallies, the arrest of innocent protesters, and notes that Georgia will definitely be part of Europe.
"Throughout the history of Georgia, the choice of our people has always been freedom, democracy and European values. This choice is part of our identity and national aspiration. The vast majority of the Georgian population still firmly supports the European future of the country, as this path is essential for the freedom, dignity and development of our people.
However, recent developments, including the suspension of the EU accession process by the country's government, directly contradict the strong desire of the Georgian people to be a full-fledged part of Europe. This decision is a disregard for democratic values and a step against Georgia's European future.
We strongly condemn the crackdown on peaceful rallies, the brutal violence against journalists, the persecution of activists and the detention of innocent peaceful protesters. Violence, inhumane treatment and the suppression of free speech contradict the principles of a democratic society and are unacceptable. Journalists, as one of the main pillars of democracy, must be protected, and peaceful protests – Respected.
