The Government of Armenia has approved the signing of a loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for €45.3 million. The decision was made during the Cabinet meeting on January 23.

The new loan will be part of the country’s healthcare system modernization program. The funds will be allocated to several key areas, including the construction and renovation of medical facilities, the development of telemedicine, and the digitalization of the healthcare sector.

Special attention in the program is given to developing human capital in the medical field and improving the licensing system for healthcare institutions. Plans also include the implementation of modern e-health tools and the establishment of an effective system for evaluating the quality of medical services.

This is the second major international loan secured by Armenia for healthcare development.

Previously, the World Bank approved a $110 million loan for similar purposes.
