Analytical Director of Georgian Banking Association David Rusia told TV-program “Business Morning” that in 2025, the total assets of the banking system are expected to exceed 100 billion GEL.
It is worth noting that as of March 2025, the assets of the banking sector amounted to 98.2 billion GEL, which was 21% more than in the same period last year.
“As of March, the assets of Georgian banks exceed 98 billion GEL, which was influenced by the addition of two microbanks to the banking sector, which amounted to 763 million GEL. In USD, the size of the banking sector is equal to 35.5 billion, this is the largest indicator ever recorded in the banking system.
I would like to note the activity of “Halyk Bank”, which has already reached 1 billion GEL in terms of assets. 9 out of 19 banks already exceed 1 billion GEL. We hope that this growth will continue, this year another bank may become one with billion-dollar assets.
We hope that the size of the banking sector as of June will exceed 100 billion GEL,” David Rusia noted.
