Deputy Minister of Economy Mariam Kvrivishvili claims that sanctioned planes cannot fly in Georgia.
Kvrivishvili said this after the ban on direct flights to Georgia was canceled as of today. The restriction has been in effect since the summer of 2019, preceded by protests against the Russian occupation.
"No airlines that is sanctioned can fly to Georgia. As for unsanctioned airlines, they will be able to make direct flights. At this stage, no permission has been issued by Georgia, because Russian airlines have not applied for us. In case of application, all companies that will not be sanctioned will be able to perform direct flights, just as they operate in Israel, Azerbaijan and the United Emirates", says Kvrivishvili.
