“Expanding bilateral cooperation serves the core interests of both nations, and the decisions reached today will further fortify the Azerbaijan–Georgia strategic partnership,” Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov announced at the 11th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Tbilisi.

Asadov highlighted the successful trajectory of bilateral collaboration in the energy sector, noting that joint initiatives are already addressing wider regional needs.

“We are actively developing the Black Sea Green Energy Cable project to supply Europe, which represents a crucial contribution to European energy security,” Asadov stated. “Transport and transit remain among the most vital components of our partnership. Our countries are working hand in hand to develop the Middle Corridor. A cornerstone of this effort is the operational expansion of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, increasing its annual throughput capacity to five million tonnes. It is a clear result of our successful joint work.

Cultural and humanitarian ties also remain a key priority. I hope that construction of the new building for the Heydar Aliyev Tbilisi State Azerbaijani Drama Theatre will commence soon.

Furthermore, the Azerbaijani community in Georgia and the Georgian community in Azerbaijan play a unique role in reinforcing our bilateral bond. Ensuring access to education in native languages and supporting local schools directly strengthens the enduring friendship between our peoples.

Mr Prime Minister, deepening cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan is in our mutual interest, and I am confident that today’s decisions will make a lasting contribution to our strategic partnership,” Asadov concluded.
