Oil shipments through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline decreased in the first six months of 2025, totaling 13.9 million tons, a drop of approximately 0.6 million tons compared to the same period last year.
The data, published by Georgia’s Oil and Gas Corporation, also confirms that the Baku-Supsa pipeline remains suspended this year, continuing a pause in operations that began previously.
The BTC pipeline, one of the key components of the South Caucasus energy corridor, begins at the Sangachal terminal in Baku, Azerbaijan, passes through six Georgian municipalities, and terminates at the Ceyhan port in Turkey. It runs parallel to the South Caucasus Gas Pipeline.
Key shareholders in the BTC pipeline include:
- bp – 30%
- SOCAR – 25%
- MOL – 8.9%
- Equinor – 8.7%
The BTC and related pipeline infrastructure have played a crucial role in shaping Azerbaijan’s energy export routes, particularly from the Shah Deniz gas field, which is now supported by the South Caucasus Pipeline built along the same corridor.
