Customers are currently unable to pay for fuel with bank cards at Lukoil gas stations in Georgia, the company’s hotline confirmed to bm.ge. According to the operator, only corporate card payments are possible, and topping up these cards requires visiting the office and paying in cash.
Lukoil Georgia claims the issue stems from a “system glitch” affecting payment terminals. The problem has persisted for six days, and the company says work is underway to resolve it. bm.ge is seeking an official explanation from Lukoil regarding the cause of the malfunction.
The situation comes in the context of U.S. financial sanctions imposed on Russian oil company Lukoil on October 22, which also apply to its Georgian subsidiary. Initially, the U.S. Treasury allowed Lukoil stations outside Russia to operate without restrictions until November 21, 2025. However, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) later extended this deadline.
Under the updated decision, sanctions against Lukoil will now take effect on December 13, 2025, giving the company an additional three weeks to conduct transactions.
