4.5 thousand tons of blueberries were exported from Georgia between May 1 - July 14, the value of which amounted to USD 26.2 million.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the volume of exported blueberries increased by 1.6 thousand tons (by 56%) compared to the same period last year, while the value - by USD 9.1 million (up by 53%).
Blueberries are mainly exported to Russia, Germany, Poland, the United Arab Emirates, Armenia, the Netherlands, Turkey and other countries.
"The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture actively supports the planting of new blueberry orchards; within the framework of the state program "Implant the Future", 2,836 hectares of blueberry orchards have been planted throughout Georgia with the co-financing of GEL 53.5 million.
The current year's blueberry export value exceeds the total export value of 2023 by USD 5.6 million. As for the amount of exports, in 2023, 3.4 thousand tons of blueberries were exported from Georgia," the body said.
