The main challenge for investors in energy projects is bureaucratic barriers, - according to Maia Melikidze, Executive Director of the Renewable Energy Development Association.
She declares that investors interested in the sector are satisfied with the incentive mechanisms offered by the government, but they would like to speed up the time-consuming procedures.
The Executive Director of GREDA says that it is important to increase the number of generation facilities using renewable energy sources, which will fill the system with additional megawatts, and it is also necessary to build wind and solar power plants along with hydroelectric power plants.
“Bureaucracy plays a decisive role. We had very positive cooperation with the Ministry on this issue. The meetings began in mid-February, we took responsibility for presenting specific examples to resolve these challenges and quickly implement a “single window” in order to give investors more opportunities to quickly go through the permitting stage ,” said Maia Melikidze.
