A bus lane is being marked on Vazha-Pshavela Avenue near City Mall as part of a new traffic organization plan, the Tbilisi Transport and Urban Development Agency announced.
According to the agency, the changes were introduced due to heavy traffic congestion in the area, which affected both private vehicles and public transport. The movement of 18-meter buses was particularly difficult, causing delays and passenger dissatisfaction.
Under the new scheme, a bus lane will be added on Vazha-Pshavela Avenue from Takhelidze Street to improve public transport flow. The number of general traffic lanes will not be reduced in either direction. An additional vehicle lane will also be added on Kavtaradze Street to increase capacity, while traffic arrangements on Kazbegi Avenue will remain unchanged.
The agency said the changes aim to reduce chaotic traffic, improve road safety, and allow vehicles to move more efficiently. Monitoring of the new traffic scheme will continue after road markings are completed, with further adjustments possible if needed.
