Georgia exported $5.42 billion worth of goods in January–August 2026, an increase of $980 million, or 22%, compared with the same period last year, according to preliminary data from Geostat. The growth was driven largely by higher exports of petroleum products, precious metal ores and concentrates, ferroalloys and copper ores. However, exports of Georgia’s largest category, passenger cars, declined significantly.
Passenger cars remained the country’s top export product, with exports totaling $1.35 billion, down 22% year-on-year. Petroleum and petroleum products ranked second at $688.9 million, compared with just $59 million in the same period of 2025, representing a 1,068% increase. Precious metal ores and concentrates ranked third at $403.1 million, up 69%.
By export destination, Kyrgyzstan ranked first, receiving $577.6 million worth of Georgian exports. China followed with $543.7 million, while Russia ranked third with $500.7 million. Exports to Kyrgyzstan fell by 38.8% year-on-year, while exports to China surged 177.3% and those to Russia increased by 4.1%.
Other major export destinations included Azerbaijan with $484.5 million, Armenia with $443 million, Kazakhstan with $388.5 million, Turkey with $328.9 million, Bulgaria with $164.2 million, Iran with $161.9 million and Togo with $136.9 million.
