During the last 9 years, catalyst converters worth USD 98 million were exported from Georgia to foreign countries - according to the revenue service of the Ministry of Finance.
The major catalyst converters were exported from Georgia in 2021, which amounted to USD 31 million, followed by 2020 with exports of USD 16.9 million.
The export of catalysts converters from Georgia by the years:

● 2017 - 61,579 kg. Cost of USD 3,654,629;
● 2018 - 89,672 kg. cost of USD 7,291,708 ;
● 2019 - 111,190 kg. cost of USd 11,709,724;
● 2020 - 86,999 kg. cost Of USD 16,794,165;
● 2021 - 122,092 kg. cost of USD 31,082,823;
● 2022 - 67,790 kg. cost of USD 15,986,269;
● 2023 - 9,492 kg. cost of USD 1,365,197;
● Total amount - 701,441 kg. cost of USD 97,776,546;
The main source of catalytic converters is used cars imported into the country, whose owners/dealers remove the catalytic converters for additional income.
The cost of catalytic converters is determined by the non-ferrous metals, including palladium, rhodium and platinum.
