I think it's a bit of an undesirable situation, US Ambassador to Georgia, Robin Dunnigan, said in an interview with Radio Tavisupleba, answering the question of what the signing of the agreement on the establishment of strategic partners between Georgia and China meant for the US.
According to the diplomat, China is a country that is getting closer to Russia, which occupies part of the territory of Georgia.
"I must be honest: when I say that we respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, we mean it - we really respect the sovereignty of Georgia... As for the strategic partnership, I can only note that in that agreement Georgia unequivocally recognizes the sovereignty of China, but we do not see any similar approach from China to Georgia. Besides, this is a country that is getting closer to Russia. And Russia has occupied part of Georgia's territory. I think it's a bit undesirable situation," said Robin Dunnigan.
