China’s Acting Charge d’Affaires in Armenia, Chen Ming, announced the imminent launch of a new solar power plant in Armenia’s Gegharkunik region and expressed China’s readiness to expand energy cooperation between the two countries, including in nuclear energy.
The diplomat made this statement during a briefing at the international scientific conference "Modernization of China: Armenian-Chinese Relations," held at Armenia's National Academy of Sciences on November 12.
"The solar power plant in the Gegharkunik region, currently under construction by China, will soon be operational," Chen Ming stated. He also emphasized China’s interest in nuclear energy collaboration, including participation in the modernization of Armenia's existing nuclear power plant and potential construction of a new one.
According to the diplomat, China is prepared to take part in such projects in line with Armenia’s needs and to support the improvement of living standards for the Armenian population.
