Chinese Visitors Spent GEL 143.2 MLN in Georgia in 6 Months – Average Spending Reached GEL 2,625 per Visit

Chinese visitors spent GEL 143.2 million in Georgia during the first six months of 2026, marking a 115% year-on-year increase, according to data provided by Geostat to BM.GE.

Official statistics show that spending by visitors aged 15 and above from China increased by 114.7%, or GEL 76.5 million, compared with the same period of 2025.

Georgia recorded 54,554 visits from China in January-June 2026, meaning the average spending per visit amounted to approximately GEL 2,625.

In terms of visitor numbers, China ranked 8th among Georgia’s top source markets, although its share of total tourism remains relatively small at around 2%.

In April 2026, Georgia’s National Tourism Administration signed a GEL 1.48 million ($1.48 million) contract with Beijing Shi Dai Yi Feng Information Technology to conduct a marketing campaign promoting Georgia in China throughout 2026.
