Georgian poultry producer Chirina expects to begin exporting chicken products to China by the end of the year, pending final accreditation from Chinese authorities. Founder Revaz Vashakidze told BMG that Chinese inspectors have visited the company's facilities several times and have already given verbal approval following product and production assessments.
The company is now awaiting official accreditation, after which it will sign the necessary agreements to begin exports. According to Vashakidze, demand in China is particularly strong for chicken feet, which will be the main export product.
Chirina currently exports chicken meat and hatching eggs to Armenia and Azerbaijan, with around 50% of its egg production and 25% of its meat production sold abroad. Vashakidze said the Georgian government and the Ministry of Agriculture have actively supported negotiations with China, while Chinese authorities have shown strong interest in opening the market to Georgian poultry products.
