The construction of the Republican Hospital has officially begun, as Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze presented the concept on Thursday.
According to the Ministry, existing buildings will be renovated, and new facilities will be constructed on the site.
The project outlines that the renovated building will support medical, training, and research initiatives. The medical centre will feature clinical and pathological laboratories, providing diagnostic and rehabilitation services.
The new facility will focus on advanced medical services, including organ transplantation, cardiothoracic surgery, and oncology. Additionally, the reconstructed hospital will include a dedicated children’s department.
“A blood bank and a warehouse for GMP-standard medicines will also be established. As part of the infrastructure overhaul, a 42,000-square-meter area will be developed into a recreational zone.
The new Republican Hospital, adhering to modern standards, will be a multi-disciplinary state clinic where patients can receive high-quality care in a contemporary and comfortable environment,” the Health Ministry stated.
