Construction of Residential Complex Starts in Borjomi to Resettle Internally Displaced Families

Construction of residential complex has started in Borjomi with the purpose of resettlement of Internally Displaced Families. Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia observed construction works.

According to Zurab Azarashvili, newly renovated, compliant with modern standards apartments will be handed over to internally displaced families upon completion of the project and the issue of compact settlement of IDPs in Borjomi will be fully solved.

150 families will receive new apartments in the residential complex in 2025. The budget of the program is over 15 mln GEL.

With the purpose of providing IDPS with decent living conditions, at the initiative of the Prime Minister, large-scale construction works, envisaging construction of residential complexes for IDPs are ongoing in 5 cities of the country – Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Zugdidi, Borjomi.

It should be noted that within the project, before the end of 2025 more than 7,000 internally displaced families will receive new apartments, 6,000 families will be provided with housing within House in a Village project. In total, 13, 000 families will be provided with housing. Over 900 mln GEL is allocated for the project.

Deputy Minister, Ilia Ghudushauri, Director of Internally Displaced Persons, Ecomigrants and Livelihood Agency, Zurab Utiashvili, Majoritarian MP in Akhaltsikhe, Adigeni, Borjomi and Aspindza, Anton Obolashvili, Mayor of Borjomi, Otar Arbolishvili, Chairman of the Municipal Council, David Zaalishvili observed construction works together with the Minister.
