Construction Only Sector to Record Decline in August - Geostat

Georgia’s economy grew by 6.3% year-on-year in August 2026, with construction the only major sector to record a decline, according to Geostat’s preliminary estimate.

Average real economic growth for the first eight months of 2026 stood at 7.6%. Meanwhile, turnover of private businesses, including VAT-paying enterprises, reached GEL 16.85 billion in August, up by 12.1% year-on-year.

According to Geostat, manufacturing, information and communication, financial and insurance activities, real estate-related activities, trade, transport and storage made significant contributions to economic growth in August.

“Compared with the same period of the previous year, the following sectors made significant contributions to growth in August 2026: manufacturing, information and communication, financial and insurance activities, real estate-related activities, trade, transport and storage. A declining trend was recorded in construction,” Geostat said.
