Corn Imports to Georgia Have Doubled, with Russia as the Main Supplier

Corn imports to Georgia have doubled, according to recent data from the National Statistics Office (GeoStat). In the first two months of this year, Georgia imported over 10,000 tons of corn worth 4.8 million USD. This is more than double the 2.3 million USD and 5,100 tons imported in the same period last year.

Russia is the primary supplier of corn to Georgia, with Turkey coming in second. In 2026, the top five corn-exporting countries to Georgia were: Russia (2.2 million USD, 9,300 tons), Turkey (1.3 million USD, 386 tons), France (498,900 USD, 91 tons), Romania (449,100 USD, 79 tons), and Austria (131,600 USD, 24 tons).

In contrast, Georgia’s overall corn imports decreased in 2025. The country imported 36,524 tons of corn last year, worth 14.8 million USD, down from 57,167 tons worth 16.7 million USD in 2024. As a result, the volume of imports dropped by 36.1%, and the value declined by 11.2%. Russia remained Georgia’s main supplier.

Regarding exports, Georgia’s corn exports have slightly decreased this year. In the first two months of 2026, Georgia exported 896 tons of corn worth 447,700 USD, compared to 894 tons worth 488,100 USD in the same period last year. Iran remains the top destination for Georgian corn, followed by Armenia and Azerbaijan.
