David Songhulashvili Appoints Two New Deputies at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture David Songhulashvili has introduced two new deputies to his team: Lasha Avaliani and Zurab Ezugbaia. The minister expressed confidence that their expertise and vision will enhance the ministry’s work.

Lasha Avaliani holds a PhD in parasitology and graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Georgian Agrarian University. Avaliani brings extensive experience from state, private, and international organizations. He previously led the Veterinary Department of the National Food Agency (2015–2019) and served as Deputy Head of the USDA project “Investing in Safe and Quality Livestock.” He will officially assume his duties on September 22, 2025.

Zurab Ezugbaia is a law graduate from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with extensive public and private sector experience. His career includes roles in the State Chancellery of Georgia, Parliament, Georgian State Electrosystem, and Oil and Gas Corporation, as well as leadership positions in the Ministry of Justice, including Deputy Minister of Justice (2001–2003). Ezugbaia took office as Deputy Minister on September 3, 2025.
