Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture David Songulashvili met with representatives of the Wheat and Flour Producers Association to discuss key challenges in the sector, market trends, and future development priorities. The conversation focused on strengthening local production, maintaining market stability, and improving competitiveness.
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the need to better address farmers’ interests and increase production efficiency. He announced plans to establish sectoral councils within the Ministry to ensure regular communication with industry stakeholders and timely identification of sector needs.
Producers welcomed the initiative, noting that a structured platform for cooperation would help address industry challenges more effectively. They also discussed global trends influencing wheat, flour, and bread prices, emphasizing the importance of market stability.
According to Association Executive Director Levan Silagava, the new councils will provide an effective space for presenting proposals, reviewing problems, and finding timely solutions. Deputy Ministers Lasha Avaliani and Lasha Dolidze, along with heads of relevant agencies, also participated in the meeting.
