It is the easiest thing and there should be no any resistance in the case of understanding it, - the former Health Minister David Sergeenko so assesses the new regulation, which obliges the employer to control the employee's working hours. The changes come into force on 1 March.

Part of the business has questions about the new regulation. They say it is unclear why it comes into force amid the pandemic when a major part of employees works remotely and on the other hand the new obligation is a new financial pressure for them.

David Sergeenko says that business always takes regulations seriously, so it is necessary to communicate with them earlier. Sergeenko notes, if someone asks the private sector, there will never be the best time for the introduction of new regulations.

“The private sector always finds it difficult to hear the word "regulation" and it is very important to communicate with the business in advance, as they will be aware and future will be predictable for them.

Private businesses may think that now is not the best time for this regulation, but if you ask a business, it is never the best time for regulations.

Georgia is not taking any unprecedented step with this decision... This is the most elementary thing that does not require a separate employee and introduction of Newtonian binomials. It is the easiest thing and there should be no resistance in the case of understanding it," said David Sergeenko.
