The death penalty has been officially abolished in Kazakhstan.
"The head of state signed the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan" On amendments in some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the abolition of the death penalty," KazTag reports.
Initially, it was assumed that the death penalty as a measure of punishment would be preserved for the most serious crimes committed in wartime, however, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that the death penalty in the country should be abolished.
As a result, the original bill was amended to exclude the specified reservations, and then the document was approved by the parliament.
