The decision of the international arbitration in Paris confirmed that the Georgian Government was absolutely right in relation to the Anaklia project, said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili.
According to him, the years of speculation about the government's decision are over.
"The Paris international arbitration decision is very important in the development of the Anaklia project. In the end, the arbitration confirmed that the Georgian government was absolutely right about the project and it ended years of speculation about the decision of the government, which repeatedly postponed the deadline for the fulfillment of obligations by the investor, and despite this, the project could not be implemented. Today the Georgian government has been consistently developing the port from 2022. In accordance with the new legislation on public-private cooperation, we choose an international private partner according to the conditions of the international competition, and we have already made significant progress. At the same time, the Government of Georgia started to select the construction company, in the conditions of the international competition, where four leading international companies participated. We will have results in the near future and the development of the project will proceed according to the plan, which will allow us to start construction works this year and at the same time make an agreement with a private partner", said Levan Davitashvili.
