Military Scientific-Technical Center “Delta” subordinate to the Ministry of Defense of Georgia published a simplified procurement on the web-page of the State Procurement Agency, regarding the purchase of anti-hail rockets to prevent hail clouds in the Kakheti region.
The agency plans to pay EUR 1,370,000 for a Bulgarian-made LOZA M2 5,000 anti-hail rockets, price for each rocket totals to EUR 274.
“Storms and hails which threatened grapes and other crops in Kakheti region starts from March and continues until October. Due to the instability of meteorological conditions, firing of rockets is carried out intensively. Consequently, there is a reasonable suspicion that the existing stock of anti-hail rockets is not sufficient for the smooth operation of anti-hail system. Delaying the system will cause significant damage to agriculture in Kakheti region. On March 1, 2021, Delta purchased 1,300 anti-hail rockets to replenish supplies for 2021, but there was not enough left for the current season," Delta said in a statement.
Economic benefits of the program, launched by Delta is not known to the public yet.
