Georgia's Deputy Economy Minister Tamar Ioseliani says the record freight volumes handled by Georgian Railway in June reflect the company's improved management and operational reforms.
According to official data, Georgian Railway transported 1.36 million tonnes of cargo in June 2026, marking the highest monthly volume recorded in the past decade.
Ioseliani said the company has delivered visible improvements across its operations over the past year, attributing the results to projects implemented by the railway's new management.
She highlighted the completion of the Rikoti Pass railway modernization project, which became fully operational in December 2025, as well as the full launch of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, saying both projects have strengthened Georgian Railway's role in the Middle Corridor.
