On 11 October 2021, the Deputy Foreign Minister, Alexander Khvtisiashvili met with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ingrid Brocková, who is paying a visit to Georgia.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Slovak State Secretary expressed her deep sorrow over the tragedy in Batumi.
The sides discussed the traditionally friendly relations between Georgia and Slovakia. Discussions focused on ongoing cooperation, including on prospects for high-level visits and the deepening of economic ties. Ingrid Brocková reaffirmed Slovakia's unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
Attention was paid to the Slovak Development Agency’s projects, which have been successfully implemented in Georgia over the years and aim to contribute to the development of various fields.
Speaking about the relations in the fields of trade, economy and tourism, the sides noted the importance of intensifying cooperation and further facilitating contacts between business communities of the two countries.
The sides also exchanged information on the steps taken to combat the pandemic. The Georgian side noted that Slovakia’s practical assistance is very valuable in this regard.
Ingrid Brotskova praised Georgia’s role in the process of evacuation of citizens from Afghanistan and stressed that Georgia's support and efforts are highly appreciated.
