Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, Hakob Vardanyan, presented impressive data on the development of solar energy in the country during a meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.
As of September 1, 2024, Armenia operates solar power stations with a total installed capacity of 630 MW. "This is quite a significant figure," Vardanyan emphasized, highlighting the importance of the progress achieved.
The Deputy Minister provided specific figures illustrating the contribution of solar energy to the country's energy balance: "For example, daily electricity consumption in recent days has ranged between 830-850 MW, with up to 530 MW generated by solar power stations."
Vardanyan assessed these results as very positive, demonstrating the successful development of renewable energy sources in Armenia. However, he also pointed out existing challenges, particularly the difficulties in regulating energy supply during evening hours when solar generation decreases.
"Regulating evening hours is a major challenge for us. But work is being done to address these issues," Vardanyan assured, indicating that the government is actively working on improving the management of energy resources.
