The Deputy Minister of Finance states that the efficiency of the Tax Dispute Resolution Board has increased.
As Giorgi Kakauridze told BMG, the terms for reviewing disputes have been reduced, and the quality of decisions has significantly improved.
As for the issue of whether the Dispute Resolution Board of the Ministry of Finance is planned to be established as an independent structure, Kakauridze explains that this issue is no longer on the agenda.
“The analysis shows that it would be ineffective to move the Dispute Board outside the Ministry of Finance since a lot of information is exchanged before the dispute is resolved. Therefore, moving it separately and creating a judicial structure will not be effective.
What was [problematic] in the Dispute Board, part of the time, has almost been exhausted, because meetings are held systematically. Also, the quality of substantiation of the decisions themselves has increased significantly. Accordingly, I think that the existing structure should be strengthened, whether with human resources or in other directions, and moving it separately will not be effective. I think the Board is working quite effectively and we do not see that businesses have any problems with the Board,” said Giorgi Kakauridze.
The Georgian Dream government began working on reforming the Dispute Resolution Board of the Ministry of Finance back in 2020.
