In April 2025, domestic electricity generation reached 1,167.6 GWh, 29.0 GWh or 2.5% above the forecast. Renewables produced 1,167.3 GWh, 176.2 GWh (17.8%) more than planned.
In contrast, thermal power plants produced 0.3 GWh, 99.8% less than expected, according to the report published by OMNIA.

As of the document, Georgia's total installed power generation capacity is 4715 MW, with RES accounting for 3534 MW (75.0% of the total capacity). On the thermal side, the total installed capacity is 1181 MW (25.0% of the total capacity).

The largest contributor within RES is hydro power, with a total capacity of 3446 MW, which represents 73.1% of the overall installed capacity. Wind power contributes 21 MW
(0.4% of total capacity), and prosumers provide 68 MW (1.4% of total capacity).

The share of renewable energy in Georgia's electricity generation reached 100% in April 2025. This is 18.4% more than the average of the last 12 months.

In the last 12 months, Georgia generated a total of 11,183.9 GWh from hydro and 75.7 GWh from wind sources, supplemented by 2,538.9 GWh from thermal power. As a
result, renewable energy accounted for 81.6% of the country's total electricity generation.

In terms of cross-border electricity trade, Georgia imported more energy than it exported, making it a net importer from May 2024 to April 2025. The country imported 1757.0 GWh of energy and exported 976.3 GWh, resulting in a net import of 780.7 GWh.

Net electricity consumption in April 2025 was 1,063.8 GWh, of which 283.3 GWh was consumed by wholesale customers, 556.6 GWh by retail customers, and 222.9 GWh by the occupied territory of Abkhazia.
