Batumi-based confectionery company Dona identifies continuous equipment upgrades as one of its main challenges. Company head Tamila Bezhanidze said modern baking and decorating machinery improves production speed and efficiency but requires significant investment.

Speaking on BMGTV’s Women’s Narrative program, Bezhanidze said the company follows industry developments, attends technical exhibitions and gradually replaces its equipment to remain competitive and reduce production costs. She emphasized that reinvesting profits is essential for long-term growth.

Dona operates three branches in Batumi and employs around 250 people. Its bakers and confectioners acquire most of their professional skills on the job, following the company’s internal standards.

Bezhanidze said the period before New Year is relatively quiet for confectionery businesses in Adjara. Dona uses this time to review summer performance and prepare for the next holiday season. The company has not announced any major new projects.
