Batumi Sea Port has updated its annual cargo turnover statistics, showing mixed results for 2025. While dry cargo volumes declined, the port saw significant growth in container traffic and an increase in the total number of vessels handled. In 2025, the port received 660 ships, 108 more than in 2024, marking the highest figure since 2016.

Container throughput reached 109,579 TEU, a 20% increase of 18,379 units compared to the previous year. This matches the port’s 2023 performance but still falls short of the 2022 record of 119,471 TEU. The rise highlights Batumi’s strengthening position as a regional container hub, despite fluctuations in other cargo segments.

Oil and petroleum product handling also increased, totaling 1.93 million tons in 2025. However, dry cargo volumes decreased to 1.714 million tons - 86,000 tons less than in 2024. This decline underscores shifting trade patterns and changing cargo dynamics across the region.

Batumi Sea Port has been operated by Kazakhstan’s KazTransOil since 2008 under a long-term management agreement. The latest data reflects the port’s evolving cargo structure and its ongoing role in regional logistics.
