Easter Cake Price Up By 15-20% Compared To 2021 – Bakeries

Easter cake price has increased by 15-20% this year compared to the pre-Easter period of 2021. According to the business, price growth is observed to due to the expensive raw materials. As they note, prices are increased on the imported raw materials, including flour, sugar, butter and oil. However, companies declare, that the price increase will no longer occur during Easter week.

According to Saba Mamaladze, Head of Sales at Sandomi, the bakery has increased prices by about 15-20%. As Mamaladze notes, despite the price increase, the demand is grown compared to the last year. If Easter cake cost GEL 4.20, its price has increased to GEL 4.80 this year.

"Sugar and flour became more expensive. If 1 bag of sugar cost about GEL 120, today its price totals to GEL 150. As for the flour, 1 bag of flour cost GEL 65-70, today its price amounts to GEL 80 and more. As a result, the price of our products has also increased. The price of Easter cake ranges from GEL 3.50 to GEL 10, its cost depends on the size and composition. As for the demand, it has increased by 150% compared to the last year. The increase in demand is due to the fact that in 2021 people have not been able to go to the grave, and this year it is allowed," - Saba Mamaladze notes.

Rusudan Muzashvili, Sales Manager of "Gourmet" also declares, that prices are adjusted by about 15% for Easter. She predicts at least a 40% increase in revenue from Easter sales this year compared to 2021. Despite the increase in prices, the demand for Easter eggs has also increased by 60% in Gourmet.

"Along with retail demand, demand has also increased in the corporate direction. Companies are returning to the in-person work and as a result, the tradition of making corporate gifts is also returning," Muzashvili explains.
