“A fair decision can be the only one. Georgia should be on the same level as Ukraine and Moldova, and if these countries have candidate status, Georgia should have it too,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
According to the Speaker, Georgia expects the European Council to make a fair decision.
“This would be a fair decision based on objective criteria and assessment presented by the European Commission. As for the probability of an unfair decision, it does not exist,” he said.
Shalva Papuashvili went on to say that Georgia was oppressed last June when lagging behind countries were granted EU candidate status while Georgia was the leader of the Associated Trio countries.
“Such injustice toward people should not be demonstrated,” Papuashvili said, adding candidate status is significant in its essence since it means negotiations opening for final accession.
