Georgia produced 648.9 million eggs last year. The figure is 0.9% less compared to 2021. In 4Q2022, the country produced 156.2 million eggs, which was 4.5% less compared to the same period of the previous year.
Poultry company Kumisi says, that eggs got expensive by 6% in December 2022, but the product increased price was reflected in the supermarkets in January.
As Gogita Maisuradze, director of the "Kumisi" poultry company told bm.ge, the price of eggs will remain at the same level for Easter.
"Customers should not expect a price increase for Easter, on the contrary, it may even decrease, because we have planned specific offers and promotions for companies on the holiday. I can't tell you details about the stock events yet, because now we are working on it and refining the offer packages. As I mentioned, the price of eggs will not increase during Easter. As for the resources, we are actively preparing for this period, we fully meet the demands of the customers, and I can tell you that there will be no shortage in terms of logistics and delivery. We have fully sorted out the policy", - said Gogita Maisuradze.
According to the February inflation indicators published by Geostat, the annual inflation level in the country during the last month was 8.1%, which was 1.3 percentage points less than the inflation in January. The main influence on the formation of the annual inflation was still the increase in food prices, which increased by 14% y-o-y.
