Kakha Zhorzholiani, Mayor of Mestia says electricity consumption in Mestia is at its peak at this stage, and one of the reasons for this is mining.
According to him, due to the increasing consumption of electricity, the transmission lines are damaged, which causes emergency power outages.
"Unfortunately, electricity is still a problem. At this time there are big frosts, so the consumption is also big. Mining is probably added to this. We are reaching the peak of electricity consumption. Due to this, power outages are quite frequent.
Unfortunately, miners are not regulated by the law, while the solution is to reduce electricity consumption, the things that are not for household use should be turned off," says the Mayor of Mestia, Kakha Zhorzholiani.
According to Energy-Pro Georgia, the increase in electricity consumption in Mestia in 2021-2022 amounted to 20.2 million kWh. In particular, electricity consumption in Mestia was equal to 101.5 million kWh in 2021, and in 2022 consumption reached 121.7 million kWh.
