In 11M2023, electricity 1.47 billion kilowatt hours USD 103 million was exported from Georgia abroad. This is the largest volume since 2010, and in terms of income, it represents a record for all years.
The decrease in local consumption allowed the country to increase exports. In 11M2023, Georgia consumed a total of 13.7 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, which was 560 million kilowatt hours less than the previous year. This decline was mainly related to the decline of the metallurgical industry (production of ferroalloys).
Compared to 2022, the volume of electricity exports has increased by 51%, and the received income has increased by 23%. This is because the average tariff for 971 million kilowatts exported last year was 8.7 cents, while the average tariff for 1.47 billion kilowatt hours exported this year was 7 cents.
As in previous years, the main exporting country of Georgia was Turkey, where 1.3 billion kilowatt hours were exported. 86 million kilowatt hours were exported to Azerbaijan, and 78 million kilowatt hours - to Armenia.
