The wage arrears in Russia as of May 1, 2021 amounted to 1552, 1 million rubles (US$ 21,139,602). Compared to April 1, the total debt decreased by 10.3 percent, or 178.1 million rubles (US$2,425,670).
Of the total amount of unpaid wages at the beginning of this month, the debts that have been generated this year account for 345.9 million rubles (US$4,711,158), or 22.3 percent, in 2020 - 346.2 million rubles (US$ 4,715,244) or 22.3 percent, in 2019 and earlier - 860 million rubles (US$11,713,200) or 55.4 percent, reads the data of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (RosStat).
By type of economic activity, the number of employees with wage arrears was distributed as follows: manufacturing - 43.5%; construction - 22.4%; agriculture, hunting and service provision in these areas; logging - 9.2%; mining operations - 8.2%; transport - 5.3%; activities in the field of health care and social services - 2.6%.
Pursuant to RosStat, average monthly nominal accrued wages of employees in RF, as of March 2021 amounted to 55208 rubles (US$753) up from 51229 (US$699) as of February 2021.
The unemployment rate (the ratio of the number of unemployed to the number of labor force) in Russia in March 2021 was 5.4%.
