EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski on Wednesday said the European Union is calling Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC), and all relevant authorities “to fulfil the duties to swiftly, transparently, and independently investigate irregularities and allegations.”
“We have also taken note of the statements of the prosecution service of Georgia,” Herczynski responded to GPB First Channel’s question.
“At this stage, the official results of the elections have not been announced by the Central Election Commission (CEC), the new parliament has not been convened and there is, therefore, no new government in place
Electoral observers have highlighted the number of irregularities and potential electoral violations during the last elections.
The Georgian people deserve clarity on what happened in these elections and those irregularities must now be clarified and addressed. This is a necessary step to rebuild trust in the electoral process,” the EU Ambassador declared.
