EU experts concluded in a research commissioned by the Communications Commission that the market for fixed broadband optical internet services in Georgia is non-competitive, “negatively impacting consumers.”
According to the study, the experts considered “Magticom” as an operator with significant power and defined specific obligations for it, including allowing other operators to enter the network. “Doing so will eliminate competition challenges and provide diverse and convenient conditions for Georgian subscribers, similar to those in Europe. ”
“As long as the high prices of high-speed and high-volume Internet are maintained in Georgia, consumers will still be forced to choose low-speed and low-volume services or pay significantly higher, premium prices to get the desired data speed or volume,” reads the conclusion.
