The European Union is launching a major support program for Armenia, titled “Resilience and Development,” with a budget of €270 million over four years. Additionally, targeted grants for judicial reform and education will be provided in 2025.
Armenia will receive substantial financial support from the European Union as part of this new cooperation program, Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan announced, noting that the €270 million “Resilience and Development” program is in the final stages of approval.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan announced two additional grants that will be added to Armenia’s state budget in 2025. The first grant, €4.5 million, will support judicial reforms, while the second grant, €9.3 million, is designated for educational development.
Thus, the total amount of EU assistance, aside from the main four-year program, will reach €13.8 million in 2025.
Earlier, BMG reported that the European Union would provide €270 million in financial support to Armenia over the next four years. This support program was announced during a trilateral meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Brussels on April 5.
The purpose of this financial assistance is to foster the growth and resilience of Armenia’s economy. The European Union intends to invest in Armenian businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises, to enable them to grow and expand into new markets, von der Leyen explained.
