Starting this autumn, young people in Georgia aged 18 to 30 will be able to access the European Youth Card, also known as the “Opportunity Card”, which offers more than 25,000 discounts in 40 European countries. The initiative was announced by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze during a Tbilisi Municipality Government meeting.

The European Youth Card is already actively used by nearly 9 million young people across Europe, and Georgia will soon become part of this extensive network. The Tbilisi City Hall holds the exclusive license for the card's distribution in the country.

“The goal of this program is to expand access for young people to opportunities in mobility, education, culture, sports, and entertainment. We have worked hard to bring this to Georgia, and the Tbilisi City Hall is proud to serve as the exclusive licensor,” Kaladze stated.

To broaden accessibility beyond the capital, the Tbilisi City Hall has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bank of Georgia, which will partner in the rollout. The collaboration aims to ensure the widest possible reach for Georgian youth.

“The European Youth Card will be Georgia’s first official discount and opportunity card for youth. It will not only benefit students but will also provide valuable advantages for all young people under 30, encouraging them to diversify their lifestyles and gain new experiences,” Kaladze said.

He also noted that the range of local discounts in Georgia is expanding rapidly, and that the mass issuance of the cards will begin in fall 2025.

“Thousands of discounts across Europe are already waiting for Georgian youth, and we are working to build a similarly robust network of benefits locally. This will be one of the most significant youth support programs ever launched by Tbilisi City Hall,” the mayor added.
