Commercial tenants operating in underground passages along Tbilisi’s Rustaveli Avenue will be exempt from paying rent during the ongoing rehabilitation works, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced.

Speaking at the city government meeting, Kaladze said the measure applies to businesses located in four underground passages affected by the reconstruction project.

“Commercial spaces operate in the underground passages on Rustaveli Avenue, and these spaces are leased out. During the rehabilitation process, these people will be exempt from rental payments, which is very important,” Kaladze said.

The exemption will apply to underground passages located at Rustaveli Avenue N37, in front of the First Gymnasium, near the Opera House, and part of the underground passage at Freedom Square.
