According to the Georgian Automotive Market Review by TBC Capital, the share of electric vehicles (EVs) in newly registered cars has risen to 4.8% in the first three quarters of 2025. During this period, 5,255 EVs were registered in Georgia, a significant increase compared to the same period in 2024, when 2,900 EVs were registered, accounting for 3.2% of total registrations.
Notably, the number of electric vehicles registered in the first nine months of 2025 already exceeds the total number registered throughout 2024, when 4,225 EVs were added to the fleet. This trend indicates accelerating adoption and growing interest in electric transport across the country.
The annual registration data shows consistent growth in recent years: 340 EVs in 2020, 315 in 2021, 955 in 2022, 1,886 in 2023, and 4,225 in 2024. The 5,255 EVs registered in just the first three quarters of 2025 highlight a sharp upward trajectory in the transition toward cleaner transportation.
In terms of origin, 55% of EVs registered in 2025 were manufactured in the United States, followed by Japan with 15%, China with 14%, Germany with 11%, and 5% from other countries. This distribution reflects Georgia’s diverse import market and the strong presence of US-made electric vehicles.
