Export of fruits from Armenia to Russia in 2024 has increased by at least two times compared to the previous year.
"During the first 5 months (January-May) of the current year, 15.3 thousand tons of various fruits were supplied to the Russian market, while during the same period last year, only 7.3 thousand tons were exported," reports the Food Safety Inspection Body.
It is noted that such indicators were achieved largely due to consistent border control and prompt resolution of identified issues at the expert level.
"The Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia has conducted all necessary inspection measures to control the cargo of phytosanitary control exported from the country to Russia.
The purpose of these actions was to prevent the delivery of goods with violations to the Russian Federation, which was noted by the supervisory authorities of the Russian Federation in November of last year," the statement from the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia said.
