In January-July 2023 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 12 105.5 million, 18.0 percent higher to the same period of 2022. The exports equaled USD 3 583.4 million (15.9 percent higher), while the imports stood at USD 8 522.1 million (19.0 percent higher). The negative trade balance was USD 4 938.7 million in January-July 2023 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 40.8 percent, the National Statistics Office of Georgia said Monday.
In January-July 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of
Georgia amounted to 80.8 percent. The top partners were Armenia (USD 495.0 million), Azerbaijan
(USD 485.3 million) and Russia (USD 416.2 million).
In January-July 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports
of Georgia amounted to 70.7 percent. The top partners were Turkey (USD 1 420.6 million), Russia
(USD 1 087.5 million) and USA (USD 975.3 million).
In January-July 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover
of Georgia amounted to 68.7 percent. The top trading partners were Turkey (USD 1 687.8 million),
Russia (USD 1 503.7 million) and USA (USD 1 023.1 million).
In January-July 2023 motor cars claimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling
USD 1 177.8 million with 32.9 percent of total exports. The exports of copper ores and concentrates
totaled USD 380.6 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 10.6 percent. The exports
of wine of fresh grapes occupied the third place standing at USD 150.3 million and constituting 4.2
percent of the total exports.
The top import commodities in January-July 2023 were motor cars, whose imports equaled
USD 1 620.1 million (19.0 percent of the total imports). The petroleum and petroleum oils followed
in the list with USD 608.5 million (7.1 percent of imports). The medicaments put up in measured
doses were third in the top import commodity list with USD 307.7 million (3.6 percent of imports).
